前晚在社群網站上瘋傳「台北飛韓國機上有MERS感染者於下機後即被檢驗確認」，昨經衛生福利部疾病管制署向南韓官方確認後，證實為謠言，網友散布不實資訊，最高可罰50萬元罰鍰。
疾管署副署長周志浩表示，該行為已涉嫌違反傳染病防治法第9條規定，利用傳播媒體發表傳染病流行疫情有錯誤、不實，致嚴重影響整體防疫利益或有影響之虞。若疫情謠言甚至足以損害公眾或他人者，將可依第63條規定，最高可科50萬元罰金。
周志浩說，已請法務單位研擬是否可以開罰，但他也坦言，目前還需要蒐集更確切的資料後，才能開罰。
立委趙天麟認為，設置法律就是要依法行政，若MERS疫情，被民眾以嬉鬧的心態，胡亂謠傳，即會造成民心恐慌，因此「該罰就罰」，才能遏制不實傳言。
趙天麟認為，許多民眾都抱持著沒關係的心態，隨意散發不實謠言，這樣的人即便第一時間不能開罰，也應該由行政機關公布其資訊，公開糾正這種行為，才不會有人效尤。
